COTABATO CITY, Dec. 16 -- The Army brokered a peace settlement on Tuesday between two Moro Islamic Liberation Front commanders, ending a decade-long clan feud in Maguindanao del Sur.
Brig. Gen. Edgar Catu, commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, said the rivals agreed to abandon violence and settled their territorial and personal disputes diplomatically in Ampatuan town.
"To show they are sincere in embracing peace in front of us, they turned in high-powered firearms on top of their promise not to resort to violence anymore," Catu told reporters here.
