Manila, Oct. 6 -- Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) vessel "CSB 8002" arrived in Cebu City on Monday for a five-day port visit and joint exercise with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to boost maritime cooperation between the two countries.

In a statement, the PCG said the visit is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to strengthen regional partnerships.

"These engagements underscore the shared commitment of both coast guards to enhance maritime security, search and rescue operations, and regional coordination," the PCG said.

During the visit, the 2nd PCG-VCG Bilateral Meeting will be held in line with the 2024 Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation between the two countries.
