Manila, Oct. 1 -- The United States Embassy in Manila on Wednesday said scheduled passport and visa services will continue "as situation permits" amid the federal government shutdown.
"At this time, scheduled passport and visa services in the United States and at US Embassies and Consulates overseas will continue during the lapse in appropriations as the situation permits," it said.
The lapse in federal funding, meanwhile, has prompted the US Embassy's social media pages to go silent "until full operations resume, with the exception of urgent safety and security information."
US senators have failed to pass a short-term appropriations bill before the fiscal year ended on Sept. 30.
