Manila, Sept. 22 -- The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will cause rains over some parts of the country on Tuesday, the weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA has a medium potential to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

It was last observed at 1,805 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 2 a.m.

Scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA's trough are expected across Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Bohol, and Davao Oriental.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides.
