Manila, Oct. 10 -- Taiwan is extending USD200,000 or approximately PHP11 million in humanitarian aid to the victims of the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rattled northern Cebu on Sept. 30.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Manila announced on Friday that this is the first tranche of assistance Taiwan plans to provide to the Visayas.
"Taiwan's thoughts and prayers were with those affected by the recent powerful 6.9-magnitude earthquake in Cebu Province," it said in a statement.
"The donation aims to help affected families rebuild their homes and accelerate reconstruction efforts. This contribution marks the first phase of Taiwan's assistance to the Philippines, with additional relief materials to follow," it added.
