ZAMBOANGA CITY, July 13 -- Authorities have arrested an elderly drug suspect and seized from him PHP1.7 million worth of shabu in a law enforcement operation early Monday here.

The Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group's Special Operation Unit-Zamboanga Peninsula (SOU-9) said the 61-year-old suspect was arrested in a buy-bust around 1:32 a.m. in Barangay Baliwasan.

Evidence seized from the suspect's possession includes five heat-sealed transparent plastic packs containing shabu, marked money and a mobile phone.

"The estimated weight of the confiscated suspected shabu is 250 grams with a street-level price of PHP1,700,000," the SOU-9 said.
