Manila, March 10 -- The provincial government of Surigao del Sur will begin implementing a four-day compressed work week this week, following national energy conservation directives, an official said Tuesday.

Gov. Johnny Pimentel issued Memorandum Order No. 28, mandating the new schedule in line with Memorandum Circular No. 114 signed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which adopts energy-saving protocols.

Under the order, the compressed work week will be observed every second and fourth week of the month, with employees working from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The schedule covers all provincial government personnel, including job order and contract-of-service workers.
