Manila, April 15 -- Senators are seeking to align the rank classification and compensation of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), as part of broader reforms to strengthen public safety institutions.
During a Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs hearing on Wednesday presided by Senator JV Ejercito, lawmakers discussed measures to streamline jail management nationwide.
Ejercito said the reforms aim to address long-standing gaps in both structure and implementation, particularly in detention facilities.
