Manila, Feb. 18 -- The Senate Committee on Science and Technology on Wednesday began crafting policy responses to safeguard and strengthen the country's Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and rapid digital transformation.
Sen. Bam Aquino head the discussions on Senate Resolution No. 253, which seeks an inquiry into the challenges facing the IT-BPM sector.
Aquino noted that the industry employs around 1.9 million Filipinos, contributes more than 8 percent to gross domestic product, and generates roughly USD40 billion in export revenues.
