Manila, Jan. 19 -- Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. on Monday underscored the importance of the recent investment in the rice processing system (RPS) in Antique to further advance food security.
This came after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the Department of Agriculture chief inspected the PHP94.8-million RPS at Barangay Poblacion 5 in Hamtic, Antique.
In a statement, Tiu Laurel said the RPS under the Hamtic Multi-Purpose Cooperative will not only improve the potential profitability of local rice producers but also advance the government's goal for a food-secure Philippines.
