Manila, July 3 -- Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has asked the National Police Commission (Napolcom) to approve a one-year service extension for Calabarzon Police Chief Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan, who is set to retire on July 10.

The extension is sought, according to Remulla, to ensure the uninterrupted execution of critical, ongoing high-impact operations in the region.

"There is great merit in his service. We still need his specialized skill set for one more year," Remulla said in a message sent to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Friday, when asked for confirmation on the matter.
