Manila, March 8 -- Some 2,000 families displaced by a fire that struck a residential area in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City received aid from the local government, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Sunday in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s instruction to provide immediate relief.
The PCSO said 2,000 "charitimba" (charity pail) containing food and other essential supplies, and modular tents were distributed at the city hall grounds, supervised by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles and MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III.
