Manila, Oct. 5 -- The local bourse's main index rose for the second consecutive session on Wednesday while the peso closed sideways at the 57-level against the US dollar.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) jumped 0.25 percent to 6.098.74 points, and All Shares by 0.31 percent to 3,684.65 points.

Most of the sectoral gauges posted gains - Mining and Oil, 4.91 percent; Services, 2.09 percent; Industrial, 0.38 percent; and Holding Firms, 0.19 percent.

On the other hand, Financials fell 1.09 percent and Property, 0.57 percent.

Volume reached 4.54 billion, amounting to PHP6.38 billion.

Advancers led decliners at 94 to 92, while 65 shares were unchanged.
