Manila, March 4 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has tightened security at diplomatic missions after Tuesday's protest near the United States Embassy in Manila.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said more personnel were deployed to secure embassies and manage traffic in areas where protests may occur. Territorial units, especially in Metro Manila, were ordered to stay alert.

"We are closely monitoring the situation on the ground, particularly in embassies, which could become flashpoints for public demonstrations," Nartatez said in a statement Wednesday.

Authorities are particularly focused on the embassies of the US in Manila, the Iranian Embassy in Makati City, and the Israeli Embassy in Taguig City.
