PNP probes extortion attempt involving 'fake' recruitment scheme
Manila, June 10 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday advised all police applicants to follow the standard recruitment process following an alleged extortion incident in the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) in Bacolod City.
A police corporal assigned to the Regional Headquarters Support Unit is under administrative and criminal investigation following the filing of a formal complaint against him before the Bacolod City Police Office, the PNP said.
The complaint was filed by a police applicant who alleged that the corporal offered to help secure his entry into the PNP in exchange for PHP50,000.
