PNP mobilizes rescue units, places standby forces amid floods
Manila, Aug. 9 -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) has mobilized frontline forces for immediate rescue and evacuation operations amid widespread flooding caused by torrential rains.
Additional personnel and assets are also on standby to scale up responses in hardest-hit areas.
"Our personnel and our resources have been closely monitoring and conducting real-time response in coordination with the LGUs (local government units) and other frontline services. We (have) made available as many personnel and resources for evacuation and other disaster response," PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement Sunday.
