Manila, April 20 -- Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Monday designated Brig. Gen. Rex Arvin Malimban, the Special Action Forces (SAF) Deputy Director for Administration, as the new director of the PNP's Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group in an acting capacity.

Malimban replaced Brig. Gen. Bonard Briton, who was reassigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.

The IMEG is the primary PNP unit going after erring policemen while the Internal Affairs Service is in charge of initiating administrative charges.

Meanwhile, Malimban will be replaced at the SAF by Anti-Kidnapping Group Deputy Director for Administration Brig. Gen. Jonathan Calixto in an acting capacity.
