Manila, July 16 -- The Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (IAS) has disarmed a cop who is suspected of being the mastermind in the killing of a jeepney driver.

In a statement, PNP-IAS chief, Inspector General Brigido Dulay, said the police non-commissioned officer (PNCO) assigned to the Regional Internal Affairs Service - National Capital Region (RIAS-NCR) has been disarmed and placed in restrictive custody.

A criminal complaint has also been filed against the officer before the prosecutor's office of Muntinlupa City.

Dulay said that at no point was the cop afforded any special treatment or accommodation by virtue of his assignment within the IAS.
