Manila, June 11 -- All security measures are in place for the country's 128th Independence Day celebration on Friday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.

The PNP has not monitored any validated threats in connection with the event, but PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the deployments and coordination with local government units are aimed at ensuring peaceful and orderly celebrations across the country.

"This is an annual activity that we prepare for every year. We trust our commanders and personnel for real-time security adjustments based on threat assessments, intelligence gathering and situation on the ground," he said in a statement.
