Manila, Dec. 15 -- Mayon Volcano is not expected to erupt soon due to low volcanic activity, the head of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) assured on Monday.
Monitoring parameters indicate low level activity, thus the volcano is still under Alert Level 1, Phivolcs Director Teresito Bacolcol said during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon interview.
There was no volcanic earthquake recorded in the last 24 hours, and gas emission of 307 tonnes was also low.
"The volcano will not erupt in the next few days because it is still under Alert Level 1," he said in Filipino.
