Manila, Sept. 16 -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Tuesday said it is implementing a strategic phased rollout of its PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) program.

In a Facebook post, the state insurer said the move aims to prioritize both the timely payment of partner pharmacies and the protection of its system against fraud.

Initially launched in select partner pharmacies nationwide, PhilHealth GAMOT aims to widen access to essential medicines for members.

While the expanded rollout is ongoing, PhilHealth assured that the 21 essential medicines remain available through Yaman ng Kalusugan Program or YAKAP clinics.
