Manila, Oct. 25 -- The Philippine government, through its Embassy in Bangkok, joined the Kingdom of Thailand in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother, on Saturday.

She was 93. She suffered a stroke in 2012 and had not been seen in public since then.

"On behalf of the Filipino community in Thailand, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Thailand extends its deepest condolences to the Royal Family, and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother," it said in a statement.

"Her Majesty's condition worsened until Friday and she passed away at 9:21pm ... at Chulalongkorn Hospital at age 93," Thailand's Royal Palace said in a statement.
