Manila, Aug. 18 -- The Philippine Army (PA) will be acquiring 100 rounds of high explosive (HE) 155mm precision-guided munition (PGM) to arm its howitzer platforms having the same caliber.

A check on the PA's website shows the service has allocated PHP248,190,000 for the acquisition of the PGMs.

Israel's Elbit Systems Land Ltd. was named as the winning proponent for the contract in the Notice of Award issued on Aug. 11, with the advisory being posted in the website late last week.

PGMs are weapon systems that integrate advanced guidance and control systems.

These munitions are capable of being used by the newly acquired ATMOS 2000 self-propelled howitzer systems and the M-71 Soltam towed howitzer system currently in PA service.
