Manila, March 9 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Sunday (New York time) said he would underscore the importance of the rule of law and the peaceful settlement of disputes when he addresses member states of the United Nations (UN) during his two-day working visit here.

In a statement, Marcos said the Philippines has long advocated for multilateral cooperation grounded in international law.

He emphasized the country's consistent support for the peaceful resolution of disputes and adherence to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

"The Philippines has demonstrated that we are a trusted partner, innovative pathfinder and committed peacemaker that other countries in the United Nations can confidently work with," Marcos said.
