MANILA, July 29 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s proposed tax reform package and amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) are the result of careful study and consultations, Malacanang said Wednesday.

In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President does not announce major policy initiatives, especially in his State of the Nation Address (SONA), without consulting relevant officials and studying implications.

"Hindi po magsasalita ang Pangulo kung wala siyang basehan. Inaaral po ng Pangulo ang bawat sinasabi niya (The President does not speak without basis. He studies everything he says)," Castro said.
