Manila, July 5 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Saturday said the decision on whether former Public Works secretary Manuel Bonoan should be discharged as a state witness rests solely with the Office of the Ombudsman.

"Again, it's up to the Ombudsman to decide on how to proceed with all of these investigations," Marcos told reporters following his four-day state visit to Canada, when sought to react to the Ombudsman's move.

He said Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has the prerogative of making Bonoan a state witness.

Marcos said he has "complete faith" in Remulla, adding that decisions related to the investigation in flood control anomalies fall within the Ombudsman's authority.
