Manila, Sept. 19 -- The province remains under heightened or red alert status amid the exit of Tropical Depression Mirasol (international name Mitag), as preparations continue for the potential effects of Tropical Storm Nando (international name Ragasa), according to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

PDRRMO emergency operations head Pia Flores said in a phone interview on Friday that the heightened alert since Sept. 12 will continue as they monitor Nando, which is expected to bring heavy rain and gusty winds as per the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
