Manila, Dec. 11 -- Malacanang on Thursday dismissed as "fake news" the alleged issuance of a memorandum circular (MC) suspending work in government offices nationwide on Dec. 26 and Dec. 29 in time for the holiday season.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, in a text message to Palace reporters, denied ordering the suspension of government work on those dates.

The denial came after a copy of a supposed MC 47, bearing Recto's forged signature, spread on social media.

The falsified MC 47 document claimed that an "extended break" has been declared for government offices "to promote work-life balance and support the emotional and social wellness of public servants."
