Manila, Nov. 3 -- Malacanang on Saturday called for inclusive growth and lasting peace in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as it welcomed the convening of the region's first duly elected Parliament.

In a statement, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto described the BARMM Parliament's inaugural session on Friday as a milestone in the Bangsamoro people's long pursuit of peace and democracy.

"This occasion marks a defining moment in the Bangsamoro people's long march toward lasting peace and genuine self-governance," he said.

"Let this be a parliament for peace, progress and prosperity."

Recto acknowledged the challenges and setbacks that marked the journey toward the establishment of the elected parliament.
