P72-M rice processing system opens in Camarines Sur
Manila, Sept. 18 -- Farmers from five towns in the first district of Camarines Sur will have improved access to drying and milling facilities through the PHP72-million Rice Processing System (RPS) II established by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (DA-PhilMech) under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Rice Mechanization Component.
In an interview on Friday, Lovella Guarin, DA Bicol spokesperson, said the facility will serve at least 6,982 hectares of rice-producing areas in the district and help farmers reduce postharvest losses, particularly during the rainy season.
