Manila, Sept. 21 -- Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento on Monday called on world leaders to remain steadfast in the commitment to build on the gains of peace.

This, after noting the importance of peacebuilders against the "backdrop of peace and security developments around the world - from nations in conflict and border disputes, to internal power struggles and fractured communities."

"Now, more than ever, the voices of peace champions must not only be amplified, but prevail above the noise of violence, division and unrest," Sarmiento said in a statement.
