Manila, Oct. 13 -- The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol and the City Government of Legazpi will showcase community-based disaster resilience initiatives through activities as part of the 2026 observance of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR), emphasizing the importance of sustained preparedness amid the region's exposure to multiple natural hazards.

In an interview on Friday, Gremil Alexis Naz, information officer of OCD-Bicol, said the annual observance provides an opportunity for Bicolanos to learn from international experiences in disaster risk reduction and management and to strengthen local mitigation and preparedness measures.
