Manila, Sept. 9 -- The National Power Corp. (NPC) terminated water discharge from the spillway gates of the San Roque Dam at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

This was based on the Notice on Dam Discharge Warning Operation issued by the NPC San Roque Dam Office.

"Based on simulations yesterday, the inflows for San Roque Dam is now manageable. We also want to balance the water from the reservoir in consideration of the strong El Nino that we are anticipating," Ma. Teresa Serra, acting manager of the NPC Dams Management Department, said in a phone interview on Wednesday.

She said the low-level outlet, which was earlier used to manage the inflows to the dam, also remained closed.
