CAGAYAN DE ORO CIT, Oct. 13 -- Public and private schools in some areas of Northern Mindanao were ordered to shift to modular or online classes by their respective local government units (LGUs) until earthquake assessments were completed.

On Monday, the LGUs of Magsaysay and Talisayan in Misamis Oriental issued respective executive orders (EOs) for in-person class suspensions on all school levels.

The cities of Iligan, Cagayan de Oro, and Gingoog also issued similar EOs since Sunday evening.

Mayors of the LGUs mentioned rapid assessments and structural integrity inspections after the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that hit Davao Oriental last Oct. 10, which affected nearly all Mindanao LGUs and parts of Visayas.
