MANILA, Oct. 17 -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) said no tourists were injured or reported stranded following the powerful magnitude 6.0 earthquake off General Luna, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte on Friday morning.
Tourism activities in General Luna and Del Carmen were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
These include surfing activities at Cloud 9 and island-hopping tours covering Guyam, Daku, and Naked Islands, as well as water-based activities in Sugba Lagoon.
"No injuries or stranded tourists have been reported as of this time. Assessment of affected tourism workers -- including boatmen, surf instructors, tour operators, accommodation staff and other service providers -- is ongoing," it said.
