Manila, June 27 -- No casualty was reported after the magnitude 6.5 earthquake that struck off the coast of Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

"As of reporting time, no untoward incidents were reported," the NDRRMC said in a statement on Saturday.

The NDRRMC earlier issued an emergency alert over the risk of aftershocks and damage following the tremor, which also rocked several areas in South Cotabato and Sarangani provinces.

The tectonic earthquake7:34 p.m., first reported as magnitude 6.6, had a depth of 10 kilometers, occurred Friday. Its epicenter was located 90 kilometers off Balut Island.
