Manila, April 23 -- Bishop Cyril Buhayan Villareal has been installed as the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Kalibo on Thursday.

According to an article posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) News, the episcopal ordination and installation rites was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on April 23 which was witnessed by people from the nearby dioceses.

Villareal was ordained to the episcopate by Capiz Archbishop Victor Bendico as principal consecrator, with Bishop Emeritus Jose Corazon Tala-oc and Bishop Narciso Abellana of Romblon serving as co-consecrators.

Villareal, ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Capiz, was appointed by Pope Leo XIV on Jan. 24, 2026.
