Manila, Aug. 7 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has brought its programs and services closer to the people of the Negros Island Region (NIR) with the opening of a new Field Office (FO) and Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) satellite office in Barangay Talay, Dumaguete City.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian led the inauguration of the new office on Thursday, joined by agency officials, NIR congressional representatives, and local officials.
"Today is a testament of that vision of bringing services closer to our people," Gatchalian said in his message during a simple ceremony.
The opening of the field office, he said, is a fulfillment of a long-standing goal to bring public service closer to communities.
