Manila, April 23 -- The Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO II) on Thursday signed a memorandum of agreement with Pi Energy for a 10-megawatt (MW) embedded solar power plant.
Lawyer Fe Marie Tagle, NORECO II general manager, said the project will embed solar power into the cooperative's 32-kilovolt distribution system to boost supply.
"Part of our strategic plan is the acquisition and installation of an embedded generation solar plant into the NORECO II's distribution system," Tagle said.
"The intention of having this is to increase the capacity of our supply, improve the quality of power and voltage, and it is also a mechanism for us to bring down our power rates."
