Manila, Oct. 1 -- The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday said it is now validating reports of 26 deaths and 147 persons injured in the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that rattled Bogo City, Cebu and other nearby provinces late Tuesday night.
In its situational report 8 a.m., the agency said that all reported deaths and injuries still undergoing verification were incurred in Region 7 (Central Visayas).
The NDRRMC also said classes are suspended in 46 municipalities of Region 7 while four towns in the region have also suspended work in their area of jurisdiction.
As of this posting, the NDRRMC has yet to release figures on the numbers of affected families and related damage from the earthquake.
