Manila, Sept. 11 -- A mother has renewed her call for her rebel daughter to surrender to authorities following the death of her common-law husband, a ranking New People's Army (NPA) leader, in a clash in an upland community in Baybay City, Leyte.

In a video shared with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Friday by the Philippine Army's 93rd Infantry Battalion, Helen Nuevo said it no longer makes sense for her daughter, Reynalene Fuentes, to remain with communist insurgents following the death of her partner.

"I don't want my daughter to die just like her husband. I want her to come home alive to be with her child," Nuevo said during a meeting with soldiers.
