Manila, July 29 -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday patted itself on the back for its successful role in securing President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.

"On July 28, the AFP successfully fulfilled its mandate of ensuring a safe, orderly, and peaceful environment during the fourth SONA of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the Batasan Complex, Quezon City," AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla said in media briefing in Camp Aguinaldo.

"Upholding its constitutional duty, the AFP played a vital supporting role in securing the event and safeguarding the President's address to the nation."
