Manila, Oct. 1 -- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday conveyed his sympathies to the families of victims killed in the deadly 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Cebu on Tuesday.

In a message of solidarity, the Malaysian leader said Kuala Lumpur stands ready to support Manila's relief and recovery efforts.

"I am deeply saddened by the devastating earthquake that has struck Cebu and neighbouring areas of the Philippines. The loss and hardship endured by so many families weigh heavily on us, and Malaysia mourns with the people of the Philippines in this time of grief," he said.
