Manila, May 11 -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Monday summoned the registered owner and driver of a Toyota Hilux that went viral on social media over its bright rear-facing auxiliary lamps that blind other motorists.

In a statement, LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, said the installation of vehicle accessories should never endanger the public.

"Ang kaligtasan ng publiko ay hindi dapat isinasakripisyo para lamang sa porma o personal na kagustuhan (Public safety should not be sacrificed for style or personal preference)," Lacanilao said.

Under the show cause order (SCO) issued to both the owner and driver, they are facing administrative charges of Reckless Driving, Motor Vehicle Operating with Unauthorized Acces...
