Manila, Sept. 16 -- Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson on Tuesday said repentance alone will not wash out corruption and other wrongdoings in the government.
His reaction came after Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano said in a Facebook Live post on Sunday that as a people, "we're all guilty from vote buying to cheating to stealing to lying," and that what is important is repentance.
In a statement, Lacson said repentance alone "especially without the appropriate corrective actions" would not eliminate unscrupulous acts, including corruption.
Lacson also agreed with former Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano, who disagreed with the Senate Minority Leader.
