ILOILO CITY, Oct. 8 -- The provincial government here is sending PHP5 million as financial aid to quake-hit Cebu.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. said the amount was sourced from the province's fund for donations.

"I signed it yesterday. We will check if it has been issued," he said.

Earlier, the governor said they intend to send the assistance through the provincial government within the week.

On the other hand, the city government is also eyeing to send assistance, although it has yet to disclose the amount.

The quake on Sept. 30 was felt at Intensity 4 in the province.
