LAOAG, Feb. 17 -- Filipino-Chinese communities across Ilocos Norte welcomed the Year of the Fire Horse on Tuesday with traditional performances, festive gatherings, and cultural observances in commercial establishments and households.

At SM City Laoag, dragon and lion dance performers entertained mallgoers, while the Tambureros - a traditional Chinese percussion group - performed to drive away evil and draw good fortune.

Tikoy, a sticky rice cake symbolizing prosperity and family unity, was shared among friends and community partners.
