CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, July 17 -- Providing halal lanes in compliance with government regulations will be part of Aboitiz InfraCapital's (AIC) expansion projects for Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) in Misamis Oriental.

At a press briefing on Friday, Christine Villanueva, head of the AIC Strategy and Communications, said the compliance is in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Trade and Industry.

"We just had discussions with the agencies to help with halal certifications and we are also urging commercial partners to become halal-certified," she said.

According to AIC, the current merchants inside LIA sell pork-free food to passengers, but the establishments have yet to be halal-certified.
