Manila, July 22 -- A huge part of the country will experience rains caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat and the low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the weather bureau said on Wednesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the habagat will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across Mindanao, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, and Palawan.

The trough of the LPA will likewise cause scattered rains and thunderstorms across Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.

The LPA, located 1,235 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon as of 2 a.m., has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours. ...
