Manila, Nov. 7 -- The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Friday ordered its key shelter agencies to implement a nationwide moratorium on housing amortization payments following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s declaration of a state of national calamity.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling directed the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund), National Housing Authority (NHA), Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC), and National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. (NHMFC) to immediately enforce the moratorium.

The move aims to ease the burden of Filipinos affected by the recent typhoons, he said, adding that it is part of DHSUD's contribution to the government's disaster response efforts.
